Holiday Blog: Sharing the Spirit of Rescue and Joy

Sharing the Spirit of Rescue and Joy with Santa

The holiday season is upon us, a time to celebrate, reflect, and share joy with those around us. For many, it’s a season of giving—not just to family and friends but to those in need. This year, I invite you to include animals in your holiday traditions and embrace the spirit of rescue. Consider sharing the spirit of rescue and joy with those around you.

The Gift of Rescue

Every act of kindness creates a ripple effect. Whether it’s adopting a pet, fostering a dog in need, or donating to your local shelter, you have the power to transform lives. Sharing the spirit of rescue and joy by supporting rescue organizations, especially during the winter months, can make a world of difference.

Sharing the Spirit of Rescue and Joy - Joe with the Kitties

For example, in Promises Kept, one story highlights the rescue of Little Joe, a senior dog who spent years in a shelter. He found his forever home with my family, who gave him warmth, love, and care during his golden years. This holiday, consider opening your heart to a rescue animal who might be waiting for a miracle and sharing the spirit of rescue and joy with them.

Simple Ways to Make an Impact

Here are a few ideas to bring the holiday spirit to animals in need:

  • Donate Supplies: Shelters often need blankets, toys, and food during the colder months.
  • Volunteer Your Time: Spending a few hours walking dogs or cuddling cats at your local shelter is a gift that costs nothing but means everything.
  • Spread Awareness: Share stories about rescue pets on social media or give a copy of Promises Kept as a heartfelt gift to inspire others.
  • Shop for a Cause: Many rescue organizations have holiday fundraisers or wish lists where you can directly contribute to their needs.

Sharing is Caring

The holidays remind us of the importance of connection and compassion. This season, let’s extend that kindness to all creatures, great and small. As the saying goes: “Kindness is the greatest gift we can give to one another.”

Let’s make this holiday a time of love, hope, and transformation—for ourselves and the animals we cherish. Sharing the spirit of rescue and joy can help create a world where every animal has a chance at happiness.

How are you sharing joy this holiday season? I’d love to hear your stories or see pictures of your furry family members celebrating. Drop a comment or reply to this post to join the conversation. You can find my book, Promises Kept at Amazon.

Wishing you a season filled with warmth, love, and paws-itive vibes.

About The Author

Dr. Susie

I reside in Northeast Ohio after traveling from coast to coast and living in both rural and metropolitan areas from Los Angeles to New York and of course the Midwest. I am an author and third generation artist and have been painting since the early 1960s. I have always cared deeply about animals, both domestic and wild, and the preservation of endangered species, has always been a concern as well. Most recently, I was involved in animal rescue work, finding homes for over 11,000 dogs and cats over the previous 12 years. It's only natural then, that I am drawn to animals and nature for my art subjects. I have also explored the metaphysical including creative imagination, Reiki, crystal healing, tai chi, feng shui and yoga and feel they add depth to my art as well. By creating an emotional connection for the viewer I hope my artwork will create concern and compassion for our natural world and its wild inhabitants, and help stimulate conservation efforts. My love of historic buildings and their conservation led me to doing the house portraits and my architectural works
