While writing my wellness blog on Emotional Wellness this week, I started thinking about what I would do this summer for a vacation and the fun I had in Maine in 2006. I went there 3 times that year and for several summers afterwards. I went there for a watercolor workshop with Don Getz who I had met earlier in Peninsula Ohio at a workshop. I wasn’t sure about traveling by myself that summer and thought the workshop with Don would be great as I would know someone. I took a small camera to take quick pictures but forgot the power cord and it quickly ran out of power. Earlier that year I had bought a Canon 5D with several lenses and next to my tiny little camera, it was huge. I remember going to the workshop the next day and being told gently that this was a watercolor workshop, not photography. But it was the only camera I had and it was my first time in Maine.
I did fine, sketched and kept the camera quietly by my side until we got to Camden Harbor. It had to be the dog walking capital of the east and every dog imaginable was there. I sketched the sailboats and little rowboats until Wallace came walking by. Wallace is in the gallery and my second blog. That was it! I took pictures of every dog there and every dog I met for the rest of my vacation, which included Provincetown, MA. These are just a few of my photos and photoart. You will find more in my cafepress shop and I will add some of them to my Fine Arts America shop.
Grandbabies Painting Draft
I started painting in the figures in the painting. I started with square chalk and went to went to medium bristle oils, which is a favorite. I am painting some detail as I go along but each image will need finishing touches.
Take time to enjoy the beauty around you. You can always find one thing of beauty in each day if you look. Let your creativity flow. Let me know what you think about the paintings and what you like to see. Safe journeys, I’ll see you next week.
