Wolves

I was trying to decide what paintings to bring to my blog this week and it became really clear while I was helping mykeeley daughter move her business into her new offices on Wolf Ledges Parkway in Akron. If anyone knows the background of the name Wolf Ledges Parkway, I would love to know what it is. Loving wolves, it was a perfect name for her new location and it  made me think of all the wonderful photo shoots I have had at Wolf Timbers in Bolivar Ohio.  I hope you enjoy.

The featured painting is a watercolor and ink painting of Nira, Keeley, and Ingo. Every line was inked in first and then it was painted using a watercolor medium. This painting took me 6 months to paint and I loved every minute of it. The 5-6 photos that I used to paint this from were from the first photo shoot that I had at Wolf Timbers. On my About Me page, you will see a picture of me being face kissed by Nira as I am holding my breath and being very still. Being face kissed is actually a great honor but the first time is especially awesome.  Wolf Playtime I have several fwolf playavorites from that photo shoot which I will share. The first is Keeley and I love her expressive eyes. The next two are of the three wolves playing and the males playing. Nira has such an expressive face in the next one. I then had some fun with Keeley.

I love to look through the Medicine Cards: The Discovery of Power Through the Ways of Animals

Nira by Jamie Sams and David Carson. “The wolf is the forerunner of new ideas who returns to the clan to teach and share medicine.” The wolf takes one mate for life and there is an enormous sense of family that we could learn from.  “If you have drawn the Wolf ‘s card, you may be able to share your medicine with others and your intuitive side might have an answer for you or teaching for your personal use.” You may want to share your knowledge by writing or lecturing, both of which I do.

Look for teachings no matter where you are if wolf comes to you. Love, light, & safe journeys until we meet next week.

About The Author

Dr. Susie

I reside in Northeast Ohio after traveling from coast to coast and living in both rural and metropolitan areas from Los Angeles to New York and of course the Midwest. I am an author and third generation artist and have been painting since the early 1960s. I have always cared deeply about animals, both domestic and wild, and the preservation of endangered species, has always been a concern as well. Most recently, I was involved in animal rescue work, finding homes for over 11,000 dogs and cats over the previous 12 years. It's only natural then, that I am drawn to animals and nature for my art subjects. I have also explored the metaphysical including creative imagination, Reiki, crystal healing, tai chi, feng shui and yoga and feel they add depth to my art as well. By creating an emotional connection for the viewer I hope my artwork will create concern and compassion for our natural world and its wild inhabitants, and help stimulate conservation efforts. My love of historic buildings and their conservation led me to doing the house portraits and my architectural works
